For Those Leaving Opiates, Legal or Illegal, Behind Them

Just want you to know, I’ve been there myself. Fentanyl patches. The big ones.

Oh, they took my pain away for a few years. But you couldn’t say I was getting much accomplished in that time.

When they stopped working, typical of my MO, I took responsibility myself. Stayed home.

Couldn’t hold a glass of water for a week. Couldn’t sleep for a month. Had carpet burns for six from leaving the bed so my partner could sleep. Lost the partner from leaving the bed, and then the home I had with that partner.

But you know what?

I was free.

And I learned something, which I will share with you:

You weren’t really doing your thing — your art, your volunteer work, whatever unique contribution you have for the world — you’ve got to admit that, right?

But you sure did get a boost to think about it an awful lot, didn’t you?

I’ll bet you’ve got a few ideas in that head and heart of yours now, huh?

You’ll need a focus, you know, to get you through this in-between time. Jus’ sayin’. Nothing like work to take the mind off of pain — take it from a seasoned veteran with it. And CBD. I swear by that stuff.

And that way — when your poor head and heart start poking themselves up above the surface again — you’ll have something to keep on living for — something that feels really, really good.

Really. Good.

    1. The world of drugs is exceptionally dependent upon the motivation of the user. If they are explored in a dedicated search for the divine, and depending on which substances are chosen, they can get you quite a way up the path. Unfortunately, between the sixties and now, few have embarked upon the exploration with any sort of divine intent. We observe the resulting chaos 😱
