(A note of current reference regarding statements in this work would be the observation that successful forgiveness does not necessarily preclude processes of justice)

A Good Thing
A truism, but true, it be
That we ourselves must truly be
Or know no genuine delight:
Dancers must dance, and writers write
Write of things that others hide
Which habitual abide
In the shadows of each soul
Releasing them, become we whole
Before we do, though, first must see
And forgive uncondit’ionally
Wrong by our enemies have known
And what regret ourselves may own
Till ~ to which we may well be blind ~
Reflected in another’s mind
With sufficient clarity,
We native innocence may see
Both self and past tormentors in,
For only thusly may begin
True forgiveness do its part
In healing up the broken heart
Had poets choice, most likely they
Would give dignified moments play
Leaving th’awkwardly unbest
To an unregarded rest
So a good thing for all it be
We scribble so compulsively
That by it others self may know
And strong in understanding grow
