Forgive Myself

(It’s a tragic truth among us that it is too often the most loving and well intended truth tellers who face the greatest revilement both personally and publicly)

Recorded Reading:

Forgive Myself

Resolution can’t be had
Between us things have got so bad
That if for honesty I tried

At end you, it makes me sad,
No explanation will have had
Of what it is I do or say
For which you give resentment play

Must put the matter on the shelf
There unenlightened let it lie —
I know heaven will not deny
Permission to forgive myself
