Old Town Coffee and Chocolates

The elephant
Shaped cookies
On the counter
Bear on their whole grain backs
Bountiful blankets
Of large blue jimmies

I met those
I say
Into the open eyes
Over the friendly smile
Behind that counter

The open eyes
Look into my own

That friendly smile
Deepens

I was there
He says

Actually I reply
You were

While making change he continues
Still am

I know I murmur
That’s what we’re doing here now…
