ever’body goin’ oh, uh-oh
all a sudden
we all lookin’ ’round
food goin’ up
jobs goin’ down
supply lines gett’n shaky
funds gett’n tight
sayin’ could this be
what we
have
left?
three percent of our animals
five percent of our trees
plastics in the antarctic
microfibers in our
blood?
in some places
they have never
seen a blue sky?
in some places a chicken
costs one hundred times more
than it’s about to cost us?
can this be
where our overuse, no let’s
call it rampant
abuse
of our world
has got us?
is the life we are dreading now
the same to which we ourselves have
condemned
indigenous peoples the
world
over?
is this what it’s been like
all this time
for our own
underclasses?
our working poor?
our homeless?
can we have been
overlooking
something?
everydamn
thing?
might it be time
and past
time to start
a
garden?…
